Summary of Responsibilities

The manager for sustainability strategy in Lubrizol Life Science (LLS) is responsible for leading product-specific sustainability matters for LLS. A key responsibility of this role is to understand the market trends, customer needs and develop effective strategies that put LLS in a leadership position and differentiates us from competitors. As a business partner to the Global Business Unit (GBU), this role will interact with internal stakeholders, LLS customers and external organizations and agencies to align the goals and activities of the GBU with the applicable sustainability strategies. This role will lead the global sustainability initiative and development of the sustainability profile of the LLS product portfolio and provide input to commercial, sales, marketing and technical team members in customer contacts on sustainability issues. This role will serve as a key partner to help with innovation portfolio including expansion of the naturals business and developing sustainability strategies to gain competitive advantage.

Essential Job Functions

  • Identify sustainability needs related to LLS global commercial priorities and design and lead LLS strategies (internal and external) to address those needs
  • Participate in customer visits to support the sales, marketing, and technical teams on sustainability matters.
  • Demonstrate understanding in the LLS product technology including positive impact on finished products, corporate and LLS driven ESG initiatives that support sustainability and serve as a point of contact for and on behalf of LLS
  • Create LLS sustainable product strategy including development of data, LCAs and critical information as applicable for LLS products
  • Lead collaborative initiative to identify innovation opportunities for LLS to extend its portfolio of sustainable products, including improvement for existing products, the formulation and/or acquisition of new products and technologies
  • Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders across internal business and support functions to enable innovation approach and influence strategic alignment on key program objectives

Skills, Qualifications, Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related
  • Minimum 7 10 years of professional working experience in a corporate environment in the Personal Care industry and leading and driving sustainability initiatives
  • Knowledge of the personal and home care market space, consumer expectations and proven record of significant experience in implementing sustainability strategies for B2C and B2B products
  • Expertise and understanding of the global trends in sustainability including leveraging programs to differentiate products and tie to return on investments
  • Experience with natural ingredients, responsible sourcing and implementation of processes and procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of Science Based Targets (SBTI) and strategy for supplier engagement
  • Strong knowledge and expertise with life cycle analysis, sustainability data requirements and developing product sustainability credentials
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to present to and successfully advocate for institutional change.
  • Able to deal effectively with ambiguity, change and uncertainty.
  • Demonstrate influence with internal and external groups.
  • Willing to travel as required.
