Dispatcher (Public Safety)

This position will serve as a National Park Service dispatcher, based out of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The incumbent will provide 24/7 emergency police, fire, and EMS services by answering emergency phone calls, radio calls, or GPS tracking device requests for assistance and dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment. The incumbent is also expected to use NCIC and other law enforcement databases, and records management systems. Other duties include:
records management, general public assistance, assistance to other park offices and partners and projects as assigned in support of the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/08/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40
hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
working as an emergency public safety dispatcher; relaying public safety emergency information to responders on a radio or telephone system; and coordinating emergency response efforts. You must include to/from dates and hours per week worked. Volunteer

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
