Accountant, Branch Reporting

Overview:

The Branch Reporting Accountant will report to the Director of Financial Reporting & Treasury. This individual will support our branch accounting functions. This position will be responsible for overseeing the activities of a set territory of branches. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of meeting monthly accounting close deadlines and will provide the Director of Financial Reporting & Treasury with monthly financial statements, P&L reports, and budgeting analysis. The Branch Reporting Accountant will be required to back up other accounting staff when necessary and will also have an opportunity to work on assigned special projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate performance of assigned territories by analyzing past data, expected data, as well as predicted data while calculating financial profitability metrics and making recommendations, changes, and adjustments as necessary.
  • Draw conclusions from data analysis and provide recommendations aimed at introducing business and/or financial efficiencies to the Branch Managers in assigned territories.
  • Understand key drivers of branch profitability and performance while supporting branches requiring improvements.
  • Develop and manage business relationships with Branch Managers in assigned territories
  • Collaborate with Director of Financial Reporting & Treasury and Financial Analysts in order to investigate and understand past performance.
  • Research G/L or other accounting discrepancies and interact professionally and appropriately with branch managers of assigned territory to facilitate timely resolution.
  • Perform variance analysis of financial statement accounts.
  • Complete month-end activities and create journal entries.
  • Coordinate organizational data to provide financial results; combining and consolidating details.

Qualifications:

  • BS in accounting.
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial controls.
  • Strong analytical skills along with a detail-oriented nature.
  • Data-driven mindset while also understanding potential courses of action based on the data.
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging, demanding, and rapidly growing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel and aptitude to learn new software.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Mortgage Industry experience a plus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
